About

SAYOKO OSADA

BIO
Sayoko Osada (she/they) is a Japanese-born, New York-based transdisciplinary artist, set designer, and creative director making genre-fluid worlds to convey identities, emotions, and stories.

Born and raised in Tokyo, she immigrated to the United States at age 13.  Lost in translation, she discovered the power of verbal and nonverbal languages. With her belief “an environment is worth a million words,” she studied Architecture and expanded her career providing creative directions and designing environments of all types and sizes, working with with music, fashion, and commercial clients and collaborators.

With every project she applies her holistic approach to creating immersion with space, stories, and senses, whether it be an audiovisual experience for Paperwater live show at the Frost Science planetarium, sets for photographing campaign imagery for Ivy Park, or experiential environments for Nike.

Currently, her practice focuses on innovating live performance visuals, building metaverse architecture, and co-creating in music, arts, and theater.
