Bed Head's first experiential event at Austin Pride — an extended reality salon installed at a corner of the park, 25 feet high and designed to stop passersby in both daylight and after sundown.

Guests stepped into an oversized surrealist 90s salon for a professional styling by a Bed Head stylist, then sat in the magic salon chair and looked up into a fisheye lens to see their head lifted onto a giant LED sphere in real time. The moment lasted ten seconds before their head burst into iridescent liquid — a custom soundscape inspired by the purikura booths of my childhood completing the sensory experience. Between each guest, the sphere cut to Bed Head branding styled after MTV interstitials. At Austin Pride, every kind of person walked in off the street and lit up in that orb — a spontaneous, joyful celebration of every head, every identity, every self.
